About Carolina Personal Loans

By the Carolina Personal Loans editorial team · Last reviewed and updated October 28, 2026 · How we write and check

Short answer

Carolina Personal Loans is published by 1st Advantage Mortgage, a Charlotte, North Carolina mortgage company. We write Carolina-specific loan guides, run a fit check and plan to match qualifying requests with lending partners. We are not a lender, borrowers pay nothing, and partners may pay us.

Who we are

Carolina Personal Loans is published by 1st Advantage Mortgage Broker LLC (d/b/a 1st Advantage Mortgage), a mortgage company at 128 S Tryon St Suite 1933, Charlotte, NC 28202. We work with borrowers across North Carolina and South Carolina every week, which is why we built guides around local facts instead of one national script.

What we do

  • Publish guides, calculators and checklists written for Carolina borrowers
  • Run a short fit check
  • Match qualifying requests with lending partners once agreements are in place

What we will never do

  • Ask for money before a loan
  • Ask for your Social Security number on our forms
  • Promise approval, a rate or a payment

How we are paid

Lending partners may pay us when a borrower is matched or takes a loan. You never pay us. See disclosures and our editorial policy.

Our Carolina focus

We are based in Charlotte and publish this site for people in North Carolina and South Carolina. We know the commutes, the storm seasons and the local lenders, and our guides reflect that. We link to the state regulators in both states because they are where Carolinians check a license or file a complaint.

How the site is built

Every page begins with a direct answer, shows its sources and gives a worksheet or example. Local pages start from public Census and Bureau of Labor Statistics data and add context checked by our team. We compare drafts against other pages on the web, and against each other, so that each page says something of its own.

How we are paid

Lending partners may pay us when a borrower is matched or takes a loan, which could influence which lenders we show. Borrowers never pay us. Read the disclosures for details.

Corrections

Tell us what is wrong using the details on the contact page, and we will review it.

What a visit looks like

You reach us from a search for a guide or a local page. The answer sits at the top, with the supporting sections below. If you decide to try the fit check, it asks for what a lender would ask first and tells you honestly whether your numbers fit. If they do, your request is saved; if not, we show you what to change and send you to free resources. We do not charge you at any step.

Why Carolinas only

Lending rules are state rules. A lender licensed in one state may not be allowed to lend in another, and the regulators you complain to differ. By focusing on North Carolina and South Carolina, we can link to the right agencies, write about storm seasons, military moves and long commutes that Carolina borrowers actually face and avoid generic advice that does not apply. Our national sister site covers other states.

Our relationship to the mortgage business

1st Advantage Mortgage is a mortgage company in Charlotte. The personal loan comparison and matching on this site is separate from mortgage lending, which is not offered here. If you want a home loan, visit the mortgage company's own website.

What we have learned

Borrowers who compare three written offers, read the total cost in dollars and check the license almost always do better than those who rush. They also avoid most scams. Everything on this site is built to help you do those three things in about an hour.

Editorial independence

No lender, partner or advertiser reviews what we publish before it goes live. We write about credit unions and free resources alongside lenders because they are often the better choice, and we say so.

Contact and accountability

Our address is 128 S Tryon St, Suite 1933, Charlotte, NC 28202, and our phone and email are on the contact page. If you believe something on the site is wrong or unfair, tell us. We would rather correct a page than leave an error in place.

What we will not do with your trust

We will not sell your request to the highest bidder, rank lenders by who pays most or bury the cost of a choice. If we ever add reviews or rankings, they will come from verified customers and we will say how they are made. Until then we keep to guides, tools and free options.

Where to learn more

Read the editorial policy for how pages are written, the disclosures for how we are paid and the privacy policy for how requests are handled.

Feedback welcome

Tell us what would make a guide more useful to you: a topic we missed, a number that looks off or a step that was unclear. Reader feedback is one of the main ways our pages improve.
